architecture:

The first permanent photograph was a View from the Window at Le Gras by Niépce and was also the first architectural photograph. By the 1950s, architects were hiring more photographers for commissioned work, resulting in architectural photography being viewed as more of an art form. The photographers were to show these buildings as “sculptural” 3 dimensional works of art in the spaces they resided in.

Land Use (How Humans or Animals change it | Landscape:

The term landscape originates from the Dutch word landschap or land ship. Landscape photography has a long history with early photographers focusing in on the American West as documenting this vast and spacious land. Many of us think about Landscape as just that, pristine sites of the west or the untouched by humans or land depicted by Ansel Adams and other artists. We can thank those photographers for allowing us a glimpse into untouched soil but landscape or land use photography and architecture is so much more. Landscape photography encompasses a range of ideas.

Land Art (Using the land for Installation)| Earthworks:

Key Ideas
The favored materials for Earthworks were those that could be extracted directly from nature, such as stones, water, gravel, and soil. This kind of work is Influenced by prehistoric artworks such as Stonehenge. Earth artists leave their structures exposed to the elements and so resulting ephemeral with the eventual disintegration of the works.

Earth artists often utilized materials that were available at the specific site on which their works were constructed and placed, honoring the specificity of the site. Robert Smithson, for example, picked damaged sites for his works in order to suggest renewal and rebirth. This idea of site-specificity was something introduced to the art world by Earth Art.

The rejection of traditional gallery and museum spaces defined Earth art practice rebuffed the commodity status venues conferred on art challenging traditional definitions of art as something to be bought and sold for profit.

Noting how humans manipulate the soil, live in it, profit from it, use it to show their perspectives and destroy it are all variations on this assignment theme.
