Using the two cases listed below, you will compare, analyze, and predict existing and potential future court decisions, writing a 3-5 page paper explaining and supporting your positions. For each case, offer your opinion as to whether the decision was justified in reference to Fourth Amendment rights and describe how New Jersey v. TLO was relevant in the decision of Veronia v. Acton. Justify your opinion with research and cite your sources. Next, predict a current day situation that might result in a similar new Supreme Court case, describe why, and offer your prediction as to the outcome. You may select a situation from the news or create one. Your analysis and prediction can be based on the two cases described, additional case law, and should include some examination of other cases that have occurred in the past decade that might offer clues to the court’s decision on the new case you hypothesize.
