Before doing this assignment, you need to have read Margarita’s and Domingo’s essays about their special place, which you will find by clicking the tab A PLACE THAT SHAPED OUR LIVES, and then the links with these students’ names.
After you have read these essays, you need to write four paragraphs. PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR PARAGRAPHS.
- In the first paragraph, explain what Margarita’s essay is about, according to you. Explain the main idea of this essay in a sentence or two and then summarize it in the rest of the paragraph, focusing on what stood out to you.
- In the second paragraph, explain what Miguel’s essay is about according to you. Explain the main idea of this essay in a sentence or two and then summarize it in the rest of the paragraph, focusing on what stood out to you.
- In the third paragraph make connections between Miguel’s and Margarita’s essays. What are some similarities? What are some differences? As you answer this question, focus on what these essays reveal about the first-person narrators and their internal and external world.
- In the fourth paragraph, discuss how these essays inspired you as a writer. What have you learned from them about writing about your special place?
Each paragraph must be proofread and consist of at least five or six sentences. You are welcome to write more than four paragraphs, but this is not required. This assignment is worth 40 points. It is due Monday March 29 at 11.59 pm.
