1st paper (2pgs): About current event in Turkey. 2nd paper (2pgs): the ongoing debate about where the Parthenon sculptures should be housed etc.

I have two assignments and both papers should be 2 full pages each.

First Paper:

-The city of Hasankeyf, in Turkey, has been in the news recently.

Search the internet for information about what is happening there and

write an essay in which you briefly discuss why it is in the news and

then address two questions:

a. Where in the ancient world have we seen this same set of

circumstances and what happened back then?

b. Why is the world’s reaction to events affecting Hasankeyf so

different than it was to the earlier event?

Second Paper:

-Investigate the two sides to the ongoing debate about where the

Parthenon sculptures (the Elgin Marbles) should be housed, give the

main arguments of each side and then give your own opinion on the

issue and explain why you feel that way.
