1-2 Journal: Genre vs. Literary Writing

I need a 3-4 paragraph journal written that covers the following:

In this journal assignment, reflect on Lev Grossman’s article Literary Revolution in the Supermarket Aisle: Genre Fiction Is Disruptive Technology and explain how Benjamin Percy’s short story, “Refresh, Refresh,” seems to blend elements of genre and literary fiction.

What sections of the text feel like they could be included in a “supermarket paperback”? What sections feel like they belong in a literary short story? For instance, is there a moment where character drives plot in some way? Remember to be specific, citing passages in the text to support your points. (Please be sure to cite the article and story in MLA format. They will both be needed to support the answers for the journal.)

Then, explain what your long-term goals are with writing. For example, do you wish to write short stories that can be published in literary magazines, or do you wish to write science-fiction or Harlequin romances? Emphasize how this literary fiction course will ultimately help you with your goals. (I plan to write a fantasy/ paranormal series which will consist of at least 7 books. This course will help me to better grasp the concept of creating dialogue within a story. It will also allow me to practice character development as we will be creating a short story for our final project. Dialogue and character development are two literary elements that I struggle with the most.)

The rubric must be read before starting the assignment.
